FERAL CHILD - NEW TERRITORIES BKK
Mon Village | Kanchanaburi, Thailand
Tutors: Francois Roche, Ezio Blasetti, Stefan Henrich, Camille Lacadee, Danielle Williams
This three-week workshop combined design, computation, and film to create an environment for the "feral child" in the deep jungle in Kanchanaburi, Thailand. The first week was dedicated to material experiments, including vapor, bending processes, decay, strategy of construction, and robotic developments. The bamboo clusters are alive, directly prototyped and manufactured within the forest, on full ground level to negotiate with the vitalism of the nature.
The computation design process looked at logic of wiring, staggering, bending, expanding, with multiple attractors, control and loosing control, point clouds, with variable components (on Rhino Grasshopper and Python scripting), and 3D scanning of existing forest by Kinect.
