VICENZA SKETCHBOOK
Critics: Charlie Menefee and Craig Barton
Summer 2011
In this six-week program, our studio traveled around the surrounding Veneto area in order to improve our drawing skills. We analyzed the architecture through perspective and axon, and diagram.
The Vicenza Program serves students well that have the desire and drive to instigate or reinforce a fledgling practice of design drawing as a means of seeing and interrogation. Though the program has resided in the Veneto region of northern Italy since its inception in the mid-1970’s, the lessons that can be drawn from studying the place or any place in full are applicable across territories, cultures, and time. During the duration of the program, students will generate drawings that expose aspects of the mostly built culture of this extraordinary consciously constructed landscape, as well as start a practice of hand drawing to serve them when proposing design interventions within the world.
